Deirdre
~ Part of Lyricfest 2007

They prophesied she would cause champions to fight for her
and Ulster to run red with blood because of her.

Yeats's dramatization of the mythic Deirdre shows the true woman worthy of such praise - not for her beauty, but for her own heroic bravery.

Cast:
Deirdre - Tara Breathnach
Naoise - Padraig Wallace
King Conchubar - James Doran
Fergus - BJ Hogg
Musician - Susie Kelly

A tribute to the Lyric's past, present and future

The Lyric Theatre opened the doors to the existing building in 1968 and has been the home of world class, professional drama for the last forty years. As the Lyric heads towards a period of redevelopment, it is only fitting to mark the achievements of those years.

Lyric Fest will be a tribute to the past and will have an exciting programme of events over one weekend. Lyric Fest will see the return of two groundbreaking Lyric dramas as rehearsed readings with some familiar faces at the helm, concluding with a nod to the future of Northern Ireland theatre.
